Carol G. Velandia P. is originally from Colombia, South America but spent the last 14 years in Baltimore, Maryland. She received her Psychologist title from Pontificia Universidad Javeriana in Colombia, she holds a Master’s Degree in Business from the Sellinger School of Business and Management in Maryland, and a Master’s in Social Work from the University of Maryland where she graduated with honors. Upon graduation from Javeriana University she and a fellow psychologist funded DeVincio Corporation, an organization that is currently operating in Bogotá, Colombia, managing projects associated with the Colombian Peace Process, under the auspices of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP).

In the United States, she worked as a language interpreter and a project administrator for the Johns Hopkins Hospital for 10 years. For the past two years Ms Velandia has been enrolled as an adjunct professor at the University of Maryland Graduate Program in Interpretation and Translation (GSIT) where she has taught Cross Cultural Communication, Healthcare Communication and translation into Spanish.  She is currently the ad honorem Administrator of the American Translators Association (ATA) Interpreters Division, an organization with more than 11000 members and a division with over 4000 interpreter members worldwide. She manages a multinational team of 10 council members.  In her various roles, Ms Velandia has accumulated knowledge and practice in leadership, project management, strategic planning, and operations with local and international projects.   Her academic interests encompass Cross Cultural Management, Leadership, Negotiation and Conflict Resolution, Project Management, Social Justice, and Ethics among others. Ms. Velandia has joined the Faculty of the Rajagiri School of Management as Assistant Professor in the topics of Environmental Management, Cost Accounting and Cross Cultural Management.
