Chairman Speaks!

The decision to study management was the best decision I made in my life and I feel it's through the blessings of St. Chavara that I got admission in Rajagiri Centre for Business Studies. Life in Rajagiri gave me many opportunities that I had never explored in my life before.

After my nursery days this is the first time I got on a stage to dance for the Talents Day. Since that day onwards I haven't wasted any chance to come forward. During Dheeskaharambam when they showed us the Infloré video I thought of being part of it in any way possible- by  being an active volunteer or contributing towards it in any way possible. I didn't dream of becoming a FORMS member then, even though I had it in my mind to become a part of the college union.

I was selected to FORMS by an interview process where our seniors interviewed me for more than an hour and later informed me that I was selected. I don't know if it was a dream come true or not but I was very happy.

When us juniors started the activities of FORMS,  I was given the task to assist the team who created Infloré 16 website and I think it went well. Those were the days we enjoyed a lot with our seniors and had several meetings regarding how Infloré was to be organized.

Rural camp is  the best days for every Rajagirian according to me. Most of us didn't even realize that we were not using our phone. We had no time to think about phones.  The team spirit my group created during the execution of our assigned social service work lead us to gain the best team title. Those were the days we had fun to the core. Culturals, cooking food, doing proper cleaning of premises and vessels was something most of us were doing for the first time.

For Infloré 2016 I was not assigned to any specific committee or duty till almost the event was starting. On the previous night of Infloré 16, our chairman Bijo Babu called me and asked whether I can assist the technical team from outside our college and I was given duty in Chavara Hall. Unlike all the other FORMS members I had a chance to watch all the events that happened in the main stage- Chavara Hall. All the junior FORMS members were part of one or the other committee and we knew what exactly happened in those committees. This actually helped us in making Infloré 17 more hassle free.

During the end of first year we had Vanavasam which again gave me an idea of what others think of me, and this genuine feedback helped me in changing myself. Thank you all who gave me feedback and making me a better person.

Later, once I was elected as the chairman of FORMS 2017 (another dream come true) I enjoyed each and every second in my life! I had never been any sort of  class leader in all my school days as class monitors and  head boys were selected based on the marks. Here I was elected as the chairman based on the work I did, the support I had among the students and FORMS members, and it was very humbling.

I can proudly say that Inflore’17 was a huge success considering the wide variety of events we had and the total number of participants who came to our college. The target set was 6 lakhs sponsorship and 2000 plus participants. These two were met by the committees headed by Meera Thampy and Amrutha Anthony respectively. There were several other committees as well who worked hard in their field. Since each one of them worked hard the result was huge. When ever someone tells me that Inflore was an awesome event I feel like thanking each one of you who did your part for it, truly from my heart. If you have even picked a safety pin that you saw on the way or any venue and dropped it in a waste bin, then you have been part of Inflore. I hardly had any work during those days since all the work was taken care of by the coordinators, event heads and the committee heads! :-)

When a mail regarding Valentine’s Day celebration was sent to the students, some people asked me in astonishment - “Does Rajagiri celebrate these kinds of events??”. Let me tell you, all the students of RCBS are FORMS members. It is the Forum Of Rajagiri Management Students. A few of us are 'Executive Members', selected and elected from each classes, to execute or coordinate the student activities. If, as a student of RCBS, you think that you wish to celebrate an event in college, you have the freedom to discuss it with your class FORMS members, FORMS chairman, Saji Sir or Susan Ma'am. Once these kind of proposals are received, it is given due consideration. If the proposal turns out to be creative and interesting, it is taken into account. The money that we collected in the first year is not just for Inflore, it is for all the students activity fund and that is the reason why we have a separate bank account for FORMS.

Each and every minute you spend in this college campus is wonderful and something you will never get again. Café Carpentine, canteen, Chayakada, hostel rooms are unique experiences just for this 2 years, value the time you have here!

Enjoy, Learn, Serve and Excel!
